Big Bullets failed trip to Tanzania for a friendly game with Young Africans (Yanga) on Sunday reportedly caused confusion at Dar es Salaam’s National Stadium where fans had paid to watch the match.

According to a reporter in Tanzania, Joseph Mchekadona, Simba were also expected to host the Bullets today at the same venue. The two Tanzania giants had reportedly reached an agreement with the Bullets.

“All was set for the Sunday game only for Bullets not to show up, this caused confusion as some supporters of Yanga and Malawians living here had already bought tickets. According to Yanga, the two international games were coordinated and organised by Dar es Salaam Football Association [Drfa].

Drfa chairperson Almasi Kasongo informed the media that Big Bullets failed to come for the Sunday match due to unforeseen circumstances,” Mchekadona told The Nation.

However, inside sources at Drfa and Yanga said Bullets refused to travel for the match after failing to agree with the organisers on money they were to get. The reporter’s version was supported by a story in Tanzania’s Daily News which confirmed about the match in its weekend edition, which said: “Meanwhile, Young Africans will also take to the same venue today to face Big Bullets formerly known as Bata Bullets from Malawi for a friendly match. Ahead of Sunday’s game, Yanga SC leaders called for fans all over the city to turn up in large number to support their team,” reported http://dailynews.co.tz

But the Bullets general secretary Harold Fote attributed his team’s failure to make the trip to the Super League of Malawi’s (Sulom) refusal to exempt the People’s Team from their Sunday game against Epac.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda on Tuesday said the Bullets never contacted them officially.

However, there is confusion on the actual games and the hosts for the Tanzania trip as the letter which Banda cited is from Mbeya City Council Football Club to the Bullets.

“Mbeya City Council Football Club invites your team to play international friendly match against our team Mbeya City Council on 30th August here at Mbeya Sikoine Stadium. The logistics of your club to come here at Mbeya will fall under the agreement made between Big Bullets and Access Promotion Limited as you communicated before,” wrote Mbeya City Council secretary general E Kimbe to the Bullets on August 28 2014.
